with a sense of responsibility to learn to interact with the horse, and to handle and care
for the horse in a respectful and considerate way takes some education on our part. The
wonderful people below are bringing cutting edge insight to the horse world. Each of these
teachers have dedicated their lives to educating people in the ways of the horse. Shea has
great respect for each and every one of them, and hopes you will find in some of them a
more satisifying way in which to spend time with your horse and help their lives be long
and healthy. HARRY WHITNEY
Harry has amazing insight into the behavior of the horse. He communicates with them in a
thoughtful way and helps people have a better understanding of their horses thought
and feelings.
PEGGY
CUMMINGS
Peggy is an amazing teacher. Peggys intuition helps guide us and our horses in
finding our true balance.
MARK RASHID
Mark has a philosophical way of teaching and training. He always explains the whys and
hows. His books are also insightful.
DAVID
GENADEK
Davids western saddles are about the horse! They will also sit you in a balanced
seat. His clinics are very educational. Not only does he cover saddle fit, but he also
talks about the history of saddle styles and how that has affected today's riding
disciplines.
ROSS
JACOBS AND MICHELE JEDLICKA
Ross and Michele are located in Australia. They teach clinics and train horses for the
public. Every Spring we are privileged to have them here with us.
MELISSA
PELLETIER
Melissa is a fellow trainer located in the Sierra Nevada Foothills who Shea collaborates
with.
PETE RAMEY
"First do no harm" is the mission statement for AANHCP. Pete's site has lots of
interesting articles and is updated regularly. Shea started doing her own trimming a
couple of years ago for numerous reasons. She never thought she would be one of those
'barefoot people', but the horses kept leading her in that direction. There are other
methods out there that in Shea's opinion are extreme and unnecessary. But Pete and his
organization has opened Shea's eyes and helped her to rehab a mare with severe navicular,
chronic laminitis, and chronic white line disease, and who wore shoes 11 of her 13 years
of life. She is now healthy, sound, and barefoot! Plus, she is being ridden in all sorts
of terrain with no problems.
SILVER FIDDLE RANCH
Silver Fiddle Ranch is a beautiful ranch located in Volcano, CA encompassing whole horse
care. Shea is invited to Silver Fiddle Ranch four times a year to teach horsemanship
clinics.
HORSE NATION
MAGAZINE
This unique magazine is devoted to raising awareness about the plight of horses worldwide
and offering resources and other information designed to alleviate their suffering and end
their exploitation. Shea's article "A
Horse Named Melanie" was recently published in the magazine's Spring 2007 issue. Shea
looks forward to regularly contributing articles on horsemanship in the future.
